A dental infection can be the result of trauma to the face, or advanced decay or disease. Without root canal treatment to stabilise the infection, there’s a possibility that the tooth may need to be taken out. The earlier you present with symptoms, the more likely it is that we can save your tooth.

Root canal treatment requires an excellent level of dexterity and experience, both of which our team possess. The Meliora Dental dentists have planned, overseen, and executed hundreds of root canal cases, ranging from simple to complex cases requiring a multidisciplinary approach. We also use specialised equipment to ensure patients feel comfortable throughout the procedure, such as rubber dams to separate the tooth from bacteria in your mouth, lowering the risk of infection to neighbouring teeth through the process.

What Happens to My Tooth After Root Canal Treatment?

Once the tooth has been cleaned and the infected matter is removed, the tooth is sealed with a filling. A bespoke crown is then created to fit over the top of the tooth, so that you are able to chew comfortably in the future and have a natural-looking tooth again.

Can You Help Me Feel Relaxed During Treatment?

Absolutely – we have a patient-centric care mentality at Meliora Dental. Some patients can benefit from having the procedure explained to them in detail beforehand, so that they feel comfortable with what to expect. However, if you’re particularly nervous about root canal treatment, we offer sedation to help you relax before your dentist begins treatment to preserve your infected tooth.

What Can I Do to Stop a Dental Infection Happening Again?

This is something we will discuss with you once treatment is complete and successful. Prevention is the bedrock of our ethos: ideally, we want to see you as little as possible (we promise we’re not being rude; we just want you to be healthy and happy!)

We want you to have good dental health and a wholesome smile and avoid further restorative treatment in the future. During your final appointment, we will speak to you about how you can protect your teeth in the future, and talk about the significance of regular check-ups, which are an opportunity for your dentist to spot early signs of an infection.

Came here for a dental implant after losing a tooth in a car accident 10 years prior. The process involved using Invisalign as my teeth had moved and the gap where the implant was to be inserted had become too narrow. Also, due to the amount of time that had passed, there was not enough bone to place the implant, and I needed to have bone grafts. The first bone graft was unsuccessful, but thankfully the second one was a success, enabling me to go ahead with the implant. Though this added time to the expected treatment timeframe, Kunal explained every part of the process with me in detail, and gave care advice at each stage. He cared about how my smile would look, my appointments never felt rushed, and time and care was taken to ensure the implant would function and look like a natural tooth. Would definitely recommend.
