Airflow®, For a Deeper Clean and a Healthier Mouth

Airflow® tooth polishing can be carried out after a scale and polish clean during a hygienist visit. It’s an effective way of making sure no plaque or tartar gets left behind along the gum line or in between your teeth. Not only does this reduce your risk of gum disease, but you also have fresher breath and your teeth will appear brighter, two advantages which can bring about increased confidence and emotional wellbeing. We can’t recommend it enough, particularly as it’s a gentle process that’s suitable for our patients with sensitive teeth.

FAQs

What Exactly Is Airflow®?

Airflow® combines compressed air, water, and powder particles. This combination is applied to your teeth and reaches locations within your mouth that your hygienist’s hand scaling equipment can’t. This includes interdental spaces, around crowded teeth, implants and deep pits and fissures.

Who Is Most Suited to Airflow®?

Anyone can benefit from Airflow®, as it’s the gold standard in removing plaque and tartar from your gum line.

We strongly recommend the Airflow® cleaning method to patients who:

  • Smoke.
  • Have excessive amounts of plaque and tartar present in their mouths.
  • Are exhibiting symptoms of gum disease.
  • Have suffered from recurrent gum disease in the past.
  • Have crowded teeth.
  • Have fixed braces.
How Will My Teeth Feel After Airflow®?

Plaque and tartar can leave your teeth feeling as if they have a layer of fur or cotton over the top. Once this has been removed, they will feel polished and cleansed. Many of our patients find that after Airflow® polishing, they feel more motivated to keep their teeth plaque and tartar-free, as they love the feel of their newly cleaned and polished teeth.
